Frequently Asked Questions
Kew School of Dance offers one free trial class to students. Before deciding to enroll for the entire year, each student has the opportunity to complete one trial classes. As soon as you finish the trial, you may register and enroll on the same day.
If students do not have a dance leotard, skirt/leggings and shoes any comfortable clothing that allows free movement may be worn with bare feet for the trial class. Please note that anyone (parents included) entering our studio will be required to remove their shoes to help protect our special dance floor. As soon as possible after enrolment however, we expect our dancers to wear the Kew School of Dance uniform. Both the Bloch Ballet shop and Ballet Emporium in Camberwell and Energetiks Ivanhoe have our uniform details and are very helpful.
Yes, a special uniform is required for most of the classes. Dance class involves physical activity and we must ensure comfort and safety of the child.”
We are happy for you to watch your child’s trial class so that you can see our approach to teaching dance. Once trial classes are complete parents do not watch classes unless it is an open week. These usually occur once a term during the last week of term. Many younger students find having parents in the room a distraction and are not as engaged in the learning process.
Prices vary per duration of the class and GST inclusive 30 minutes $205, 45 minutes $215, 50 minutes $220, 60 minutes $225, 75 minutes $235, 90 minutes $250
Yes, there is a $30 enrolment fee that is non refundable and is payable annually per student on enrolment.
There are no refunds for missed classes. If a student is unable to attend a class due to illness, injury or compassionate grounds, a makeup class can be taken, subject to class availability in the same style of dance before the end of each term with the permission of the studio owner. Makeup classes are not offered to students who miss a class due to conflict with social or school engagements.
Our preferred method of payments is via Electronic Funds Transfer. The bank account details can be found on your invoice. Fees can also be paid by credit card via the parent portal or by direct deposit. Please note that cash payments for term fees will not be accepted.
Every class’s age range is shown next to its name, and it can also be found in the schedule’s bottom left corner next to each class block. Our progressional syllabus and the dancers’ skills are matched by the way the required ages are organized. Each age group we utilize in our programs corresponds to a certain period in the students’ physiological development, with the option for in-class evaluation of individual level at the teachers’ discretion.
The studio will suggest the following suitable class as soon as the teacher determines that your student is prepared for the challenges of the next level. We firmly think that every student should be given the chance to push themselves and advance, but moving forward too quickly will almost always make pupils feel uneasy and unsafe in the classroom.
Please get in touch with us if you have any inquiries regarding your child’s progress. If you have any inquiries regarding our various curricula and how they relate to the finest dance instruction for your kid, please contact us!
Yes, we offer private classes and choreography work. Please email us with your goals, style, age, dance class timetable and any other information that may help us direct you to the right Instructor. Private lessons must be approved by the studio director prior to booking.
Yes, if we are notified prior to refund deadline. Please refer to registration policy for details. To ensure quality instruction for your child, we limit the number of students for each class. We often have waiting lists, but we close the registration after the first week of class, and turn away students who otherwise could have been enrolled. If a registered student decides to drop after trying 1-2 classes we can no longer fill this class space.
The tuition fees cover the knowledge and skills acquired in the course of the semester. Pro-rata fees will only be applied if the enrolment commenced.
Discounts are applied on 2nd class – 5% , 3rd & 4th class – $20, 5th class and more – %40.
